Horse Painting Commission

Contemporary Horse Painting On Canvas

Details About This Abstract Equine Painting

‘Commission for Lauren’ Acrylic on canvas, measures 30″ x 24″

Inspiration Behind The Art

This composition is probably the most popular one of the equine works. I’ve painted it many times and never get tired of it since each one seems to be different in palette and size. The client discovered my work online and has followed me for quite some time. She finally saved enough money to commission me to do an original painting. The biggest reward of being an artist is being able to connect with people that I’ve never met through my paintings.

‘Just Another Cow Painting’ Mixed media on paper, measures 15″ x 14″

Inspiration Behind The Cow Art

Still exploring the new batch of acrylic colors and new crayons. I highly suggest to all artists to experiment as much as possible with new colors and mediums. Why? Because i breeds new combinations and undiscovered techniques. A fabulous way to spice up the session. I’ve been out of yellow for about a month and it’s been refreshing to have it back in the arsenal. It amazing what new colors you can create with lemon yellow and it’s a primary source of inspiration in this piece.

2012 Kentucky Derby Commission Video Demonstrations

2012 Kentucky Derby Poster

What You’ll Discover In This Video Demonstration

In this video demonstration I will share some insight into the prestigious Kentucky Derby commission. This artwork will be used for programs, posters, prints and other memorabilia for the 2012 Kentucky Derby. I videoed the painting from beginning to end so that I could share it with derby fans, collectors and other artists. The commentary will cover medium and why it was chosen. It will also cover some tips for mixing charcoal and acrylic paint.

Never before has the Kentucky Derby artwork been videoed for your viewing pleasure. It was challenging to work with the video and complete the painting too since it was done over several days and I had no assistance with the camera. However, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to document this event for myself and other viewers to enjoy.

Sit back and relax for the next several minutes while Robert paints the Official Artwork of the 2012 Kentucky Derby.

Details About This Painting

This is the official painting for the 2012 Kentucky Oaks. And today you get a special treat. I spent hours in the studio coming up with what I felt was a fantastic and unique artistic representation of the Kentucky Derby and Oaks. Once I knew what I wanted and the composition was approved by Jett Stream Productions and the Churchill Downs Marketing department, I went to work. And I also set-up the video camera so that I could capture the painting process and share it with you.

You’ll also have the opportunity to view the making of the Kentucky derby video very soon. Hope you enjoy it.
