Horse Painting And Acrylic Video Painting Demonstration. ‘Rainbow’
About this Horse painting
This expressive and affordable horse painting measures 15″ x 22″ and is painted on paper.
Medium and Techniques used for the mixed media equine painting
I used a combination of acrylic paint and acrylic ink over a reject painting. The video demonstration will illustrate the techniques and brushwork used to capture this colorful horse in motion. I painted this last summer but realized yesterday that I haven’t shared this with my faithful blog readers. If you problems viewing the video below click here. Without any further ado, I present to you..

Hey Robert! As I watched this yet again I found myself thinking that it would be fun to see a video focused primarily on your palette and what is happening there, with occasional views flashing to the painting you are working on. Just a thought!

Great Idea. I’ve been thinking about investing in another camera so I can have an inset for the palette. I’ll certainly keep this in mind as I move forward with the tutorials. Thanks for the feedback, this is very helpful!

How do you choose your colors?
I love the looseness of your paintings and the way you create movement. Leaves a lot for the imagination.

Hey Stephanie, Thanks for your kind comments and keeping in touch. I select colors very randomly, it just depends on the flavor of the day but there are certain ones that I seem to always include on the palette. They are phthalo blue and green, lemon yellow, terra rosa and rose madder. I can’t say these colors are in every painting but ones I really enjoy working with. The phthalo’s are nice because they mix really well with complimentary colors and I love the richness when used alone. Hope this helps.

Robert, I am a 73 year old novice acrylic painter. I hope you do not mind me using your tutorials as inspiration and to be honest something to which I inspire to emulate. Obviously, my attempt to duplicate will not be exact, probably, no even close but I do enjoy your sharing your techniques……If you know of other artists who have similar tutorials I would appreciate your letting me know………….
