Inspiration Behind The Art
These pieces were commissioned by Jettstream Productions and Churchill Downs for the 2012 Kentucky Derby and Oaks. The images will be used for programs, tickets, posters and memorabilia. The official unveiling was this past weekend in Louisville, Kentucky at the Churchill Downs Gift shop. There was a good crowd and plenty of buzz as we presented these pieces to some excited derby fans.
I’ve been very eager to share this project with you for the past three months, but couldn’t make an official announcement until the unveiling. Claire Jett, owner of Jettstream Productions discovered my work while surfing the internet. She became intrigued and the rest is history. It’s an honor to have my art grace the programs and other collectables of the 2012 Kentucky Derby and something I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. I’ve always felt confident about my work but this is certainly a validation for my career.
Look for plenty of posts in the near future where I’ll share some of my stories that happened along the way. I’ll talk more about the inspiration behind the paintings and share some videos that captured the art in the making.
Be sure to visit the Churchill Downs Official Facebook Page and browse a few pictures of the unveiling.
How To Purchase The Originals
Contact me if you’re interested in purchasing the originals. They’ll be in the hands of Churchill Downs and Claire Jett until after the 2012 Derby, but you can always purchase them in advance. 2012 limited prints, posters, calendars and plenty of other memorabilia can now be purchased at JettStream Productions.
