How To Block In A Painting. Tips For Starting Your Artwork. ‘Part 1′

What You’ll Discover In This Painting Tutorial

Starting a painting can be the most intimidating factor in the studio. I’ll share some ideas on how to eliminate the clutter, and get that artwork off to a great start. Here are some of the tips I’ll discuss in the video.

  • Tips for starting a painting
  • How to reduce the painting into shapes
  • Adding light and shadow

I’ll finish this painting in ‘Part Two’, so be sure to stay tuned.

Hope the video improves the way you start and view your subjects. If you enjoyed the tutorial, please be sure to share it with your fellow artists and friends.

      Hi Ine.
Thanks for commenting. No, I don’t paint in oils, too toxic.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get this video to play smoothly without freezing my computer. Is anyone else having trouble with it? Robert, I enjoyed your work and your other videos, but I really feel like this video is one of the most important! (how to start) Thank you for creating and sharing your art and these videos with us. So much fun. Please let me know if you think of another way that I could view your content.

      Hi Lisa.
It’s best to sometimes let the video upload some before playing. I find the videos will pause at times depending on your connection speed and Vimeo’s uploading speed. It doesn’t always do this but when it does just click the pause button and give it a few minutes to upload. Unfortunately I do not have my own server and use You Tube and Vimeo to host them which can cause a few problems. Anyhow, hope this helps and I’m delighted you’re enjoying the website and work.
