I’ve been enjoying the idea of using a simple and sometimes blank white background lately, and these paintings represent some of the latest examples of this technique. It shows some of the lines and brushwork better than a busy, or painted background, and I like the simplicity of it. The busy-ness of the subject contrasts nicely with the quiet background. Look for more samples of this idea in future works.

Details About These Abstract NFL Football Paintings

These are a few more samples of what’s been going on at the easel lately. I’ve had a great time getting reacquainted with football paintings and kind of sad the season will be over soon. After watching the games yesterday I have to say I’m pleased to see the rematch between the Giants and Patriots. Should be an interesting conclusion to the 2011-12 football season.

I figured I would paint one of the more popular football athletes this time so I focused on The New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. I see the Pats making the Super Bowl this year and playing the Giants for a rematch. What’s your bold prediction?

These pieces are commissions for a collector in California. She contacted me through Etsy which is an online venue where I sell some of my smaller works. She has two sons that play football and hired me to paint these pieces for them. Gotta’ love mom! Anyhow, thought I would share them with you since it’s playoff season and all!
