Abstract Buildings In Richmond, VA

Abstract Style Cityscape

This piece is inspired from some urban sketching I've been doing lately around downtown Richmond, VA. I really liked the abstract style of this piece which was created over a reject with acrylics, inks & crayon on archival paper.

The atmosphere is rather interesting as well - kind of haunting with a twist of quirkiness. It doesn't have a focal point apart from the color contrasts and overall style & harmony. Maybe that's another reason this one appeals to me - it breaks some traditional rules like having a clear subject, or focal point. Anytime I can create a winner and break some rules it's a wonderful day!

Anyhow, hope you enjoyed the new cityscape painting. Cheers!
