Expressive Mark Twain Paintings

Thought I would share a few recent portraits that feature Mark Twain. These expressive portraits are created with acrylics, crayon, charcoal & inks on paper and both measure 30H x 22W Inches. They were painted back-to-back which is why they have a similar palette. I often create several paintings of subjects within a session since I get a little obsessed with creating art in general.

Another fact is the one on the left was painted over a reject charcoal sketch. Many of the charcoal scribbles are visible if you look closely. White the portrait on the right if painted on blank paper. I think this one has many expressive qualities but not as much as the one on the left in my humble opinion. I prefer as much abstract qualities as possible which is why I paint over rejects often.

Hope you enjoyed the two new expressive Mark Twain paintings. Thanks for having a look.
