Huge Cityscape Painting
Huge Cityscape Painting Details
Painting on a large scale isn't something I do very often, but when it happens I tend to do cityscapes since there's a lot of interesting shapes to work with. This huge cityscape painting depicts a scene on Monument Avenue in Richmond, Virginia. I used acrylics on gallery wrap stretched canvas, and it measures 48" x 60". It's inspired from a Google Earth satellite image but much of the content is abstracted and created with my imagination.
I used the image to simply get me going by adding the focal point - which is the intersection and monument. Once I had this loosely sketched in I let my imagination do the rest. I glanced at the image a few times just to get some reference for the buildings and other structures that I randomly included in the painting.
Hope you like the piece and thanks for stopping by. Please share with family, friends and fellow artists.
