Tom Brady Painting
Tom Brady Painting Details
It's been a while since I painted some American football artwork, so I decided to pay homage to one of the greats - New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Man, that was tough to get out since I'm a Rams fan, but I gotta give credit where credit is due. The painting is created with a combination of heavy body acrylics, graphite and crayon on 140 lb archival paper. It measures 22" x 15" and has a lovely palette of blues, reds, grays, violet, green and teal. And as always loaded with abstract qualities and loose brushwork.
My favorite part
My favorite part of this piece is the eyes. As much as I would love to say I intended to paint them this way I can't say it's the case. The right eye has that intensity I see when QB's are just about to make that throw. Yet the other eye is kind of missing - but it works. That's the cool thing. Despite there being only one eye painted it still holds together because the one eye is so believable.
