If you have followed my art for a while you know teaching is something I'm very passionate about. Sharing my joy and knowledge of painting loose with others has many rewards that continue to inspire me every day. I've connected with likeminded artists from around the world that I would have never met, if only online, and helped them with their creative journey.

The Back Story

I started my teaching website, www.painthog.com, over 15 months ago. My goal was to create quality courses that cover basic fundamentals and how to blend them with expressive painting techniques. It's designed for those that want to loosen up their style and paint more freely.

When I launched my site most courses cost money while a handful of others were free. However, I stopped giving out free lessons after three months because so many artists would sign up and never watch. That was disheartening since I spent months planning and creating those free courses.

But others consumed every minute of the free content. I know those are the artists that I do this for. The ones that take nothing for granted and sponge up every second of the content.

My dad

On may 3rd I lost my father to stage 4 congestive heart failure. In his final months I was his primary caregiver trying hard to make him better and more comfortable. During the final weeks my father became very agitated and had difficulty sleeping at night.

Instead of medicating him and returning to my comfortable bed I decided to sit with him so that he wouldn't be alone. And while we sat together I began to get very curious about his life.

I only knew him as dad. He was always there to help me when I needed it and of course taught me how to be an honest man.

My father was an electrician by trade. He worked for himself for many years. He shared a story one night of a young family with children that hired him to do some work. At the end of the job the lady didn't have the money to pay the bill. Time went by and she still didn't pay.

So what did my dad do? He went to the grocery store and bought food and took it to the family because he knew they needed help. Most businesses would have sent their bill to collections but not dad. He instead did what was natural for him and that was putting himself last and others first.

That's just one story and believe me there are many just like this one! I only had several nights of talk time with my father before he became unable to carry on a conversation. He died a few days later.

Why I'm Offering Free Memberships

The reason I'm bringing free tutorials back is because it's my way to honor my father. I want to be more like him than ever before. So, every lessons and freebie I share is in his name. And I hope by doing so this will encourage you to always reach out and help others. Together we can make this world a better place and spread some kindness into the universe.
